The Federation of Music Conferences has launched a new international calendar for music conferences, designed to make it easier for professionals across the sector to discover relevant events, plan their schedules and connect with conference communities worldwide.
The Federation of Music Conferences (FoMC) supports the current AgoraEU draft report by MEPs Emma Rafowicz and Alice Kuhnke and its proposal for a dedicated Music strand within future EU cultural funding. At a time when cultural budgets risk becoming increasingly consolidated across sectors, FoMC considers earmarked support for music essential to preserving the diversity and sustainability of Europe’s music ecosystems. The network also welcomes the report’s focus on mobility, international collaboration, professional exchange and the next generation of music professionals across Europe.
From 20–24 May 2026, the Federation of Music Conferences will take part in East European Music Conference 2026 with a series of sessions addressing both artist development and the future of Europe’s live music sector. The programme includes discussions on showcase festivals as international career platforms, as well as broader conversations around market concentration, diversity and resilience within the European live ecosystem.
From 6–9 May 2026, Athens Music Week 2026 returns for its 8th edition, once again bringing together artists, professionals and organisations from across Europe and beyond. With a strong focus on the future of music ecosystems, this year’s programme explores how collaboration, mobility and cross-sector exchange continue to shape the international music landscape. The Federation of Music Conferences is contributing to the programme with several co-hosted sessions addressing emerging touring markets, showcase strategies and ecosystem resilience.
A new report published by the European Commission examines the structure and future challenges of the European music ecosystem. The study highlights the need for stronger cross-border collaboration, sustainable funding models and better support for emerging professionals and independent players across Europe.
