New EU report: Mapping Europe’s music ecosystem

The European Commission has published a new report providing an in-depth look at the structure, dynamics and future challenges of the music ecosystem across Europe. European Commission, the study brings together data and insights on the relationships between creation, production, distribution and live sectors, while also addressing the impact of digitalisation, new business models and evolving audience behaviours.

The report highlights both the diversity and fragmentation of the European music landscape, underlining the importance of stronger cross-border collaboration, sustainable funding structures and better support mechanisms for emerging professionals and independent players. It also points to the growing need for alignment between policy, industry and innovation – particularly in areas such as data, rights management and platform economies.

For networks like the Federation of Music Conferences, these findings reinforce the importance of international exchange platforms and conference ecosystems as spaces where knowledge, best practices and new partnerships can develop.
